MINA
CLAVERO SUBUD CENTER
A
Subud group first formed in Mina Clavero in 1974 and has continued through
today.
On
April 1995, the Latin American Subud Convention took place at Aguas de San
Pedro, Brazil, with around 150 members from different countries attending.
Among the 25 attendees from Argentina, there was a strong feeling, to
start
¨something¨ together.
A brother from Mina Clavero expressed feelings about starting a project
in Mina Clavero.
This feeling was shared and then confirmed by many brothers and sisters
through testing. One month later 30 members from Buenos Aires were travelling
to Mina Clavero for a weekend. A spontaneous meeting was held at which time
everyone felt for themselves the importance of this project. The only clear
direction was to start building a latihan hall. The testing indicated that the
Subud house should stand on the land of a Subud brother. This was confirmed
unanimously by testing of the IH´s at the WSC meeting, Indonesia, 1995.
In
November 1996, the foundations of the Subud house were formed and also the
foundations of several homes for Subud families.
Since
then, many things have happened. The project doesn’t have a particular
direction, but we all feel it is a special place, a place to develop and a
place to develop ourselves.
THE
SUBUD CENTER
The
Subud Center , which consists of a large area partially circled by the river
Los Sauces, is 3 km from downtown Mina Clavero. This land has been divided
into lots, eight of which have already been sold (to Subud members).
Four new family homes have been built since the project began, adding
to the two already in existence.
The
Mina Clavero Subud House was
started in November 1995, in a lot of 6000 m2. To date, buildings include: the
latihan hall (160m2), two secondary rooms ( 20m2 each), corridors and
bathrooms, the roof and structure of the cafeteria was also built (the latter
as a part of Bapak´s 100th Anniversary project).
Currently, the floor and walls of the cafeteria are being started.
$60,000 has been invested in construction,
$ 50,000
from members donations and $ 10,000 from an MSF donation. MSF also
provided a loan of $ 15,000 to be paid in four years. However, the loan was
completely reimbursed within the same year.
A
Guest house
was
started at the end of 1998 in two plots, with the expectation of five more to
follow. It consists of a house (35 m2) with two bedrooms, kitchen and full
bathroom. A part from some finishing details, it is complete.
The
total amount invested is $ 23,000 , of which $ 13,000 came from members
donations and $ 10,000 was a loan from a portugese brother, to be paid in four
annual quotas. The first one has already been paid.
